A vitamin is an organic compound and a vital nutrient that an organism requires in limited amounts. vitamins needed for normal metabolism, growth and development, and regulation of cell functions. Here is a complete list of vitamins their sources, Deficiency diseases and their chemical names.
Vitamins are very important for our body. These are organic compounds required in minute quantities. Vitamins are invented by Sir F. G. Hopkins. The term Vitamins is coined by Funk.
On the basis of solubility these are of two types.
1. Water soluble Vitamins--- Vitamins-B, Vitamins-C
2. Fat soluble Vitamins------ Vitamins-A, Vitamins-D, Vitamins-E, Vitamins-K

Vitamin-B1
Chemical name: Thymine
Deficiency diseases : Beriberi
Sources : Liver, Egg, vegetables, Ground nut, Pulses, rap seed, Dried chilly etc.
Vitamin-B2
Chemical name: Riboflavin
Deficiency diseases : Cracking of skin, Cracking of tongue, red-dish eye.
Sources : Meat, green vegetables, milk etc.
Vitamin-B3
Chemical name: Pantothenic Acid
Deficiency diseases : Whitening of hair, mentally retard.

Vitamin-B5
Chemical name: Nicotinamide or Niacin
Deficiency diseases : Pellagra or 4d Syndrome.
